Police Investigate Yoon Seok-yeol's Wife Kim Geon-hee Over 'False Career Claims' Controversy

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The police have launched an investigation into the accusation case related to the 'false career controversy' of Kim Geon-hee, the spouse of Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate.

According to the police on the 8th, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency was assigned the habitual fraud accusation case against Kim last month.

Earlier, the civic group Judicial Justice Citizens' Action (Sasehaeng) accused Kim of intentionally and repeatedly falsifying her resume career details over 15 years and subsequently receiving salaries after being employed at five universities, filing a complaint with the prosecution on charges of habitual fraud. The prosecution transferred the case to the police, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency assigned it to the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit. The police are currently coordinating the complainant's attendance schedule.

Sasehaeng stated, "We urge the police to conduct a thorough investigation so that a formal investigation does not grant immunity simply because she is the spouse of a leading presidential candidate."
