Namwon-si Installs 'Cold Weather Shelter' at Bus Stops

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Jeonbuk Namwon City (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 8th that it has invested 20 million won in project funds to install 'Winter Cold Shelter Facilities' at 27 major bus stops in the city center to alleviate the inconvenience of bus users caused by the cold winter weather.

The cold shelter facilities, which block the cold winter wind, were installed at 27 locations with high passenger traffic, including Wollak Samgeori, Dotong Apartment, Hanshin Apartment, Hyanggyo-dong Administrative Welfare Center, Intercity Bus Terminal bus stops, Booyoung 1st Apartment, and Dotong-dong Yangwoo Naeanae Apartment.

The cold shelter facilities were made of transparent materials so that passengers can check the bus from inside, tailored to the size of the bus stops, and the entrance was designed as a sliding door to allow waiting passengers to freely enter and exit.

These facilities are scheduled to operate until March next year.

A city official said, "We are installing and operating cold shelter facilities at bus stops so that winter bus users can use public transportation more warmly and comfortably," adding, "We will continue to expand installation according to bus usage demand and satisfaction, and actively strive to provide transportation welfare services that make citizens happy."
