CJ Logistics Invests 39 Billion KRW to Fully Upgrade 'Parcel Delivery IT System'

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 8th that it will invest 39 billion KRW to advance its parcel delivery IT system.

CJ Logistics, together with CJ OliveNetworks and SK Inc. C&C, held a 'Next-Generation Parcel Delivery System Construction Project Kick-off Ceremony' at the Gyeonggi Building in Jung-gu, Seoul, to build a state-of-the-art parcel delivery IT system. With the volume of parcels and related data increasing exponentially, the company plans to respond to the future parcel delivery business through proactive digital transformation.

CJ Logistics plans to sequentially upgrade the IT systems across its entire parcel delivery business by 2023. From the 'Parcel Core System' that manages all computerized information related to parcel collection, delivery, and dispatch, to the 'IT Service Channels' that support corporate clients, call centers, and mobile applications, all IT services related to the parcel delivery process will be completely replaced.

In particular, a private cloud-based IT infrastructure will be established. This will enable real-time data sharing and monitoring, allowing the rapidly increasing parcel information to be processed more quickly and flexibly.

To ensure stable system operation, the previously unified database will be distributed. By designing an independent data module structure that can back up information for each different service channel, system load will be reduced, and data can be processed stably even during peak parcel delivery seasons when volumes surge sharply.

The information analysis system and mobile support services utilizing AI and big data will also be strengthened. A system will be introduced to analyze in real time the indicators and data necessary for efficient parcel operations, such as trends in volume fluctuations, sub- and hub-terminal work status, and dispatch networks.

Shin Young-su, Head of CJ Logistics' Parcel Delivery and E-commerce Division, said, "Through the introduction of the next-generation parcel delivery system, we expect to quickly process the continuously increasing parcel-related data and flexibly respond to the changing market environment," adding, "We will secure advanced technologies for future growth through continuous investment and lead the advancement of the parcel delivery industry."
