[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…‘Major hunter’ Brooks Koepka refused a rematch with his ‘rival’ Bryson DeChambeau (both from the United States).
On the 7th (Korean time), the US Golf Channel introduced an interview with Koepka during last week’s PGA Tour special event, the Hero World Challenge. Koepka, who said, "I won once in an online fight and won in golf," stated bluntly, "It’s hard to make up a 2-0 score," and "There will be no rematch." In the 12-hole play of ‘Capital One’s The Match V’ held last month at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, he won by 4 holes.
DeChambeau expressed his hope for a rematch immediately after the one-on-one match, saying, "I want to face him again," but Koepka responded, "Don’t come at me anymore." However, in PGA Tour regular tournament pairings, DeChambeau has the upper hand. They faced off four times: rounds 1 and 2 of this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, round 3 of the 2018 Tour Championship, and round 4 of the 2016 Masters, with DeChambeau leading 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Koepka explained, "At that time, my performance wasn’t at its best due to injuries and other factors."
