Emart will offer Chilean air-flown cherries and U.S. mixed grapes at a 3,000 won discount when Shinsegae points are used for accumulation from the 9th to the 15th.
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Emart announced on the 8th that it has increased the proportion of air transportation to maximize the freshness of imported fruits and avoid schedule disruptions caused by the global logistics crisis.
From the 9th to the 15th, Emart will offer Chilean air-shipped cherries and U.S. mixed grapes at a 3,000 KRW discount when accumulating Shinsegae points. There will also be a promotion for Chilean fresh blueberries with a discount when purchasing 2 packs.
Due to the global logistics crisis causing longer delivery times for sea transportation, making it difficult to guarantee the freshness of fruits, Emart is importing fruits via air freight. Chilean cherries are brought directly to Korea by air immediately after being harvested in Santiago. While sea shipping takes about 40 days, air transportation takes only about 5 days.
The air transportation of California grapes has also more than doubled. Last year, the proportion of air transportation for imported grapes was less than 15%, but this year it has increased to 40%, with about 12 tons imported weekly by air. A regular air route for Chilean fresh blueberries was newly established this year as well.
An Emart official stated, “Due to the global logistics crisis, the sea logistics period has lengthened, causing disruptions in the import schedule of imported fruits. We will open various logistics routes and strive to provide customers with the freshest fruits possible.”
