SF Movie 'Dune' Surpasses 1.5 Million Viewers


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The sci-fi blockbuster "Dune" has surpassed 1.5 million viewers.


According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office data on the 7th, "Dune" (directed by Denis Villeneuve) recorded a cumulative audience of 1,500,194.


The film, which was released on October 20, surpassed 1.4 million viewers in 40 days and 1.5 million viewers in 48 days. Even after entering its eighth week since release, it continues to rank high in real-time reservation rates.


Additionally, "Dune" has earned $382.17 million worldwide as of last week, continuing its long-running success globally.


"Dune" is a film depicting the epic war over Arrakis, the desert planet producing the universe's most precious resource, and the legendary messiah Paul’s great journey.


Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film stars Timoth?e Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and Stellan Skarsg?rd.


"Dune" has gained steady popularity as a movie perfect for theater viewing, with its new world-building, grand scale, and overwhelming sound and music.


Riding on its popularity, filming for the sequel, Part 2, has begun, with a scheduled release in 2023.
