[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 7th that it held the '2021 Dreaming Culture and Arts Festival' together with students eligible for special education.


Under the theme of 'My Dream ON-tact!', this cultural and arts festival was organized as an opportunity for students eligible for special education to freely showcase their talents and abilities.


The '2021 Dreaming Culture and Arts Festival' began with a male students' chorus performance, followed by nine teams performing drum playing, pansori, traditional Korean melodic instrument ensemble, piano duet, sign language and dance performances, orchestral music, percussion ensemble, and choir.


In addition to the performances, various events including a real-time quiz event were held, and students from special classes and integrated classes assigned to special schools and general schools communicated through real-time Zoom sessions.


Among the participating classes, three teams were selected for the cheering award, and three teams received the interview award. Also, one person who posted the first comment on YouTube and three people who left meaningful comments received comment awards.


Chae Seo-yul, a student from Eunhye School who participated in the performance, said, "It was amazing to see ourselves on YouTube," and added, "I was nervous at first when preparing, but after finishing the performance splendidly with my friends, I felt proud and happy."


Shin Mi-sook, Director of Early Childhood Special Education at the City Office of Education, said, "The ‘2021 Dreaming Culture and Arts Festival’ was a stage of dreams and opportunities where students eligible for special education could fully demonstrate their artistic talents," and added, "Through the cultural and arts festival, I hope our students will continue to strive toward their dreams and grow wonderfully with the support and response of many people."
