[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon Urban Corporation (iH) announced on the 7th that the Geomdan Housing Construction Project (AA16BL), being promoted in consortium with Hyundai Construction, will be developed as a zero-energy residential complex.
A zero-energy building refers to a green building that minimizes the energy load required for the building and reduces energy demand by utilizing renewable energy. Since 2020, zero-energy construction has been mandatory for public buildings with a total floor area of 1,000㎡ or more, excluding multi-family housing.
Although the Geomdan Housing Construction Project, which is a multi-family housing project, is not subject to mandatory regulations, it is planned to achieve building energy efficiency rating 1++ and an energy self-sufficiency rate of over 20%, securing a Zero Energy Building (ZEB) grade 5 certification, and has recently applied for preliminary certification.
To this end, insulation (strengthened by 19.7% compared to legal standards) and airtightness will be enhanced, and passive technologies that minimize heating loads in winter by improving natural lighting performance, as well as active technologies that reduce energy consumption by applying household heat recovery devices and an integrated energy management system within the complex, will be introduced.
Additionally, photovoltaic power generation will be installed on the building rooftops to enable partial self-sufficiency in electricity usage, and renewable energy facilities that reduce energy consumption costs and have eco-friendly effects will also be applied.
Lee Seung-woo, president of iH, stated, "The Geomdan Housing Construction Project is planned as the first zero-energy building among the Geomdan New City sale housing, actively participating in government policies and providing practical benefits to residents through energy savings."
