The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism General Affairs Office (Chief Administrator Wonhaeng) hosted, and the Buddhist Publishing Culture Association (President Jihong) organized, the '2021 Buddhist Book of the Year 10 & the 18th Buddhist Publishing Culture Awards,' where the grand prize was awarded to "Pilgrimage to India and Nepal."
The 18th Buddhist Publishing Culture Awards, held to inspire enthusiasm among Buddhist publishers and promote the vitality of Buddhist publishing culture, selected the winning books from Buddhist-related publications first issued domestically within the past year. A total of 75 titles from 25 publishers were submitted.
One grand prize, two excellence awards, one Suhyang Translation Award, one Buddha Book Academic Award, and one Bodeok Dharma Propagation Award were separately selected. The grand prize and excellence awards are jointly awarded to the publisher and author, with the grand prize prize money totaling 10 million KRW (5 million KRW each to the publisher and author), and the excellence awards totaling 4 million KRW (2 million KRW each to the publisher and author). The Suhyang Translation Award, Buddha Book Academic Award, and Bodeok Dharma Propagation Award each grant 1 million KRW to the publisher and author/translator respectively, and the remaining four titles selected as the Buddhist Books of the Year receive 1 million KRW each to the publisher.
