[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) held the '2021 2nd Semester Learning Rise Community Activity Case Presentation Contest' utilizing the metaverse platform.
According to the Gwangju University Institute for Educational Innovation and Professor Learning Support Center on the 7th, a contest was recently held in the Learning Method Seminar Room on the 5th floor of the Hosim Memorial Library to share the achievements of students' learning community activities, and it was broadcast live through the YouTube channel and the metaverse platform 'Ifland'.
The 'Learning Rise Community' is a program where students autonomously form study groups and set their own topics to conduct learning activities for efficient university life.
A total of 44 teams and 130 enrolled students participated in this contest from the creative, major, and dormitory Learning Rise Community activities. Awards were given to the top team S&F from the Department of Fashion Jewelry, along with 2 Excellence Awards, 3 Encouragement Awards, and 3 Active Awards.
Park Jin-young, Director of the Institute for Educational Innovation, said, "I am proud of the students who took the initiative and did their best in their roles even in the non-face-to-face class situation caused by COVID-19," adding, "The pioneering experience using the virtual space metaverse according to the rapidly changing educational environment will also give students confidence."
Oh Seon-ah, Director of the Professor Learning Support Center at Gwangju University, said, "The Learning Rise Community was conducted to help students adapt to university life and improve learning in the non-face-to-face situation caused by COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to operate it during the winter vacation to strengthen students' capabilities."
