[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, President Kim Ki-seon) announced on the 7th that it has signed a business agreement with Korea Energy Technology University (President Yoon Ui-jun, KENTECH) to establish an educational and research cooperation relationship.


The business agreement ceremony was held at GIST on the 6th, attended by key figures including GIST President Kim Ki-seon, Vice President for External Affairs Kim Young-jip, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs Cho Jeong-hee, Acting Vice President for Research Park Ki-hong, Director of Planning Park Ji-yong, and KENTECH President Yoon Ui-jun, Vice President for Academic Affairs Park Sung-joo, Director of Academic Affairs Kwak Joon-seop, Director of Student Affairs Park Wan-gyu, Director of Research Im Sung-moo, and Director of Planning Han Sang-chul.


The main contents include ▲operation of the Future Innovation Committee (tentative name) ▲education and personnel exchange ▲research and development and technology exchange ▲international exchange. In addition, GIST and KENTECH plan to actively cooperate on matters necessary for mutual development and promotion of friendship.


In particular, the two institutions will operate the Future Innovation Committee (tentative name) to derive concrete and substantial future cooperation plans. The committee will carry out comprehensive cooperation such as innovation in university education, future research paradigms, and activation of international joint research.


GIST President Kim Ki-seon said, "Through this agreement, a foundation has been laid to establish an educational and research cooperation system where the two universities can coexist and develop," adding, "We expect positive synergy effects through active cooperation with KENTECH."


KENTECH President Yoon Ui-jun stated, "Humanity is facing the 4th Industrial Revolution brought by the introduction of artificial intelligence and an energy industry revolution for carbon neutrality by 2050," and added, "At this critical moment, GIST, leading in artificial intelligence, and KENTECH, a university specialized in energy, will cooperate to lead innovation regionally and globally."
