[Golf Topic] Thompson "Set to Compete in PGA Tour Event QBE Shootout"

The QBE Shootout organizing committee of the PGA Tour announced on the 7th (Korean time) that "Thompson will team up with two players in this tournament, including Bubba Watson (USA), a two-time Masters champion." The tournament will be held on the 10th at Tiburon Golf Club (par 72, 7,382 yards) in Naples, Florida, USA, competing for a total prize of $3.6 million. A total of 24 players in 12 teams will compete over 3 rounds and 54 holes to determine the winning team.

Thompson is a player who has won 11 titles on the LPGA Tour. She has participated in this tournament for four consecutive years from 2016 to 2019. Her best result was 6th place in 2017 when she teamed up with Tony Finau (USA). Matt Kuchar and Harris English (both USA) are defending their title. This is their fourth attempt at winning after victories in 2013, 2016, and 2020. Lee Kyoung-hoon (30, CJ Logistics) is paired with Brandt Snedeker (USA).

Prominent players such as Jason Day (Australia), Graeme McDowell (Northern Ireland), and Lee Westwood (England) have also entered. Since this is not an official PGA Tour event, no world ranking points or FedEx Cup points are awarded. The winning team will receive $895,000 (approximately 1.05 billion KRW). The tournament venue is the same as the CME Group Tour Championship, the final event of the 2021 LPGA Tour season. This location is familiar to domestic golf fans as Ko Jin-young (26) won there this year.
