According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on the same day, a total of 3,558 people nationwide tested positive for COVID-19. This is 329 fewer than the 3,887 cases recorded nationwide by 9 p.m. the previous day.
With the recent increase in the scale of the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of confirmed cases is 917 more than the 2,641 cases recorded at the same time a week ago on the 29th of last month. Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0 a.m. on the 7th is expected to increase further, reaching the low 4,000s.
New confirmed cases were 2,482 (69.8%) in the metropolitan area and 1,076 (30.2%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 1,614, Gyeonggi 617, Incheon 251, Busan 151, Chungnam 134, Gyeongbuk 129, Daegu 124, Daejeon 93, Gangwon 92, Gyeongnam 75, Jeju 61, Chungbuk 60, Gwangju 47, Jeonbuk 46, Jeonnam 43, Sejong 11, and Ulsan 10.
The number of new confirmed cases over the past week since the 30th of last month were 3,032 → 5,122 → 5,265 → 4,944 → 5,352 → 5,127 → 4,325, averaging about 4,738 cases per day. The average daily number of locally transmitted cases is about 4,710.
