Changwon Launches 'Nation's First' Village-Level Carbon Neutrality Action Council On the 6th, the 'Carbon Neutral Village Promotion Council' inauguration ceremony was held at Changwon City Hall Citizen Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 6th, Changwon City in Gyeongnam held the launch ceremony of the Carbon Neutral Village District Promotion Council at the City Hall Citizen Hall.


At the event, 55 eup, myeon, and dong in Changwon formed Carbon Neutral Village Promotion Committees, and about 70 members of the district promotion council attended to reaffirm their commitment to practicing carbon neutrality.


The five district promotion councils declared the creation of carbon neutral villages to start a new challenge for carbon neutrality by 2050 and to achieve the goal of 'Changwon, a Climate and Environmental City by 2030.'


Additionally, through a special lecture on practicing carbon neutrality and presentations of carbon neutrality cases under the theme of the importance of village environment and ecology in the carbon neutral era, citizens' understanding and feasibility of practicing carbon neutral villages were enhanced.


Mayor Heo Seong-moo said, "Carbon neutral villages are the nation's first carbon neutrality practice movement starting from the village level," adding, "Citizen participation is most important for carbon neutrality, and we will do our best to advance as a global leading city in climate and environment."
