Democratic Party Gwangju Branch: "Former MPs Park Juseon and Kim Kyungjin, a Major Stain in Honam Political History"

On the 6th, the Democratic Party's Gwangju City Party issued a statement saying, "The People Power Party may pride itself on recruiting talent from Honam, but how many people from Honam would actually recognize these individuals as Honam talents?"

The city party stated, "Those who changed their party affiliation like chameleons for personal gain remain a significant blot in Honam's political history," adding, "Former lawmaker Park Juseon attempted to declare support for candidate Park Geunhye in the 18th presidential election but gave up due to opposition from supporters, and former lawmaker Kim Kyungjin ran as an independent in the Gwangju Buk-gu Gap district during the April 15 general election last year, making the absurd pledge to rejoin the Democratic Party immediately after the election."

They continued, "It appears that former lawmaker Park lacks even aides with proper judgment, and former lawmaker Kim is not engaging in political activities based on his own philosophy and beliefs but casually switches parties during elections as a common practice."

Furthermore, they said, "Especially since they are former prosecutors, there is a high likelihood they will become henchmen of Yoon Seokyeol's 'Prosecutor Republic,'" emphasizing, "Already, Yoon Seokyeol's election campaign committee is filled with former prosecutors such as Kwon Seongdong, Kim Jaewon, Won Heeryong, Kwon Youngse, Yoo Sangbeom, Jeong Jeomsik, Park Hyungsu, Kim Yongnam, and Kim Jintae."

They added, "The people of Honam have never forgotten the past of these former prosecutor lawmakers. Kim Jintae held a National Assembly public hearing that disparaged the May 18 victims as monsters, deepening the wounds of the local community, and has never apologized even once," stating, "Can Yoon Seokyeol's election campaign committee, filled with political opportunists and former prosecutors, truly represent the people? We deeply regret the Honam figures who have collaborated with them."

Meanwhile, the People Power Party appointed former lawmaker Park Juseon as co-chairman of the election campaign committee and former lawmaker Kim Kyungjin as head of the standing public relations special advisory group.
