Suncheon City to Support Health Vouchers for Elderly Dignity Starting Next Year

Recruiting Bathing and Beauty Service Voucher Card Merchants Until the 17th

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 6th that starting January next year, it will implement the ‘Health Voucher Support Project for Maintaining the Dignity of Elderly Citizens,’ which provides bathing and beauty service expenses to seniors aged 80 and above.

Seniors aged 80 or older who are registered residents of Suncheon City will receive card points of 10,000 KRW per month, distributed semiannually, allowing them to use up to 120,000 KRW annually for bathing and beauty expenses.

However, residents of elderly residential welfare facilities and elderly medical welfare facilities, as well as those receiving home care benefits under the Long-Term Care Insurance Act for the Elderly, are excluded from the support target.

Eligible seniors can apply for the voucher card at their local eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare centers starting from the 27th.

Additionally, the city is recruiting affiliated businesses in the bathing and beauty service industries to provide high-quality services to the elderly.

Applications will be accepted via visit or mail (registered) until the 17th, and businesses will be reviewed based on relevance to the purpose, business location, and whether a card payment system (terminal) is installed and in use, before being approved as affiliated stores.

An official from the Elderly and Disabled Division stated, “We hope that the health voucher support project targeting seniors aged 80 and above will contribute to realizing universal welfare and revitalizing the local economy, and we encourage many bathing and beauty-related businesses to apply.”
