[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongsang National University announced on the 6th that Professor Han Seung-hoon of the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering at the College of Marine Science received the ‘2021 Excellent Paper Award’ from the Korean Society of Power Machinery Engineering, which is awarded to researchers who have contributed to the domestic power machinery industry through academically outstanding research papers.

The Korean Society of Power Machinery Engineering selected the paper titled ‘Design of a Low Backpressure Electrostatic Precipitator for Reducing Fine Dust in 300kW-Class Marine Diesel Engines’ as an excellent paper among those presented over the past year at the Autumn Academic Conference held on the 2nd and 3rd at the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center.

This research was conducted with the support of the Marine and Fisheries Science and Technology Promotion Agency under the ‘Development Project of Integrated Fine Dust Reduction Technology for Ship Emissions - Development of a Low Backpressure Fine Dust Electrostatic Precipitator Hybrid Device.’

Professor Han Seung-hoon, an expert in marine machinery and control machinery (marine and fisheries) fields, is conducting research on the ‘Development of Eco-friendly LNG Ship Exhaust Gas After-treatment Devices’ supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea, and the ‘Research on the Development of Bio-Ship Fuel Maritime Demonstration Technology’ supported by the Korea Petroleum Management Service.

Professor Han Seung-hoon said, “I ask for much support so that Gyeongsang National University can play a pivotal role in the marine and fisheries sector, and I will continue to devote myself to empirical research activities that contribute to the national development of the marine and fisheries field.”
