[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 6th, the Democratic Party of Korea urged Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, to "fully accept a special prosecution investigation from the Busan Savings Bank corruption investigation to the 5 billion Club."
On the same day, Nam Young-hee, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's election campaign committee, issued a statement saying, "The root of the Hwacheon Daeyu corruption started from the Busan Savings Bank corruption."
Spokesperson Nam emphasized, "If the preferential development suspicion of Daejang-dong had been clearly revealed during the Busan Savings Bank corruption investigation, the Hwacheon Daeyu development corruption would not have occurred," adding, "This is why the special prosecution investigation into Hwacheon Daeyu corruption must begin by thoroughly uncovering the suspicions of the inadequate investigation into the Busan Savings Bank corruption."
He pointed out, "According to reports, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's Central Investigation Department prosecuted everyone from Park Yeon-ho, chairman of Busan Savings Bank, to executives of the architectural office, but despite tracing accounts, it turned a blind eye to Mr. Cho's charge of receiving over 1 billion won in brokerage fees." He continued, "There is growing suspicion that Yoon's Central Investigation Department deliberately concealed or condoned this," and explained, "The fact that Kim Man-bae's sister, Ms. Kim, who is the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu, purchased the residence of Yoon's father strongly supports these suspicions."
Spokesperson Nam said, "Those who avoid a special prosecution investigation are the culprits," and pressured candidate Yoon, saying, "If you are confident about all these suspicions, boldly accept a complete special prosecution investigation that comprehensively covers everything from the inadequate investigation of the Busan Savings Bank corruption to the 5 billion Club, not a selective special prosecution that excludes yourself by removing the car and the cannon."
