Gwangju Dong-gu, Recruiting Participants for Senior Job and Social Activity Support Program

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dong-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 6th that it is recruiting participants for the 2022 Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project to provide local seniors with opportunities for social participation and income support.

The number of recruits by type is ▲ Public Interest Type 2,846 people (basic pension recipients) ▲ Market Type 137 people (aged 60 and over) ▲ Social Service Type 190 people (aged 65 and over) ▲ Employment Referral Type 140 people (aged 60 and over), totaling 3,313 people, an increase of 128 from the previous year, and the project is scheduled to start on January 3 next year.

Next year’s Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project will operate ▲ 37 public interest type projects ▲ 6 social service type projects ▲ 9 market type projects ▲ 1 employment referral type project through a total of 7 executing institutions, and has developed 7 new projects including the Recycling Helper Project, Smart Informer Project, and Senior Exploration Plus.

The application period is until the 14th, and applicants must bring a resident registration certificate, vaccination confirmation, ID card, etc., and apply at the administrative welfare center of their address or the executing institution. However, recipients of livelihood benefits, workplace health insurance subscribers, long-term care grade assessors (grades 1 to 5, cognitive support grade), and those participating in projects promoted by government ministries and local governments are not eligible to participate in the senior job project.

A Dong-gu official said, "Even in the situation where the economy has contracted due to COVID-19, we will continue to discover various jobs so that seniors can improve their self-esteem and increase opportunities for social participation through the job project."
