Collaboration and Communication with Local National Assembly Members... Focusing on Making Buk-gu a Better Place to Live
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City (Mayor Moon In) is collaborating with local members of the National Assembly to address residents' long-standing demands.
Buk-gu, Gwangju announced on the 6th that it has secured an additional 3.6 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the second half of this year and will actively invest in local pending projects.
Including the 2.5 billion KRW secured in the first half, Buk-gu has secured the largest amount of 6.1 billion KRW in special grants among autonomous districts in Gwangju this year.
This was based on the efforts of National Assembly members Jo Oseop (Buk-gu Gap) and Lee Hyungseok (Buk-gu Eul), with detailed projects including ▲Expansion of Sinandong Administrative Welfare Center ▲Seismic reinforcement of Cultural-dong and Duam 3-dong offices ▲Repair of sewage culverts around Baekrim Pharmacy in Pungyang-dong ▲Installation of a fountain in Ilgok 2nd Neighborhood Park ▲Environmental improvements of Unam 1 and 2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers ▲Environmental improvements of Useok Sports Facilities ▲Repair of sewage culverts across from Goryeo High School in Samgak-dong ▲Repair of sewage culverts around Dongnim-dong, totaling eight projects.
Accordingly, by reinforcing safety and improving the environment of five public offices including Sinandong, the inconvenience experienced by residents using the previously poor-condition dong administrative welfare centers will be resolved, and the maintenance of Ilgok 2nd Neighborhood Park and Useok Sports Facilities will provide a more pleasant leisure space.
Furthermore, through focused maintenance of sewage culverts around Baekrim Pharmacy in Pungyang-dong, Goryeo High School in Samgak-dong, and Bukmun-daero in Dongnim-dong, efforts will be made to ensure residents' safety by proactively responding to various disasters.
Mayor Moon said, “Securing the largest amount of special grants among Gwangju’s autonomous districts is the result of proactive administration by Buk-gu officials aiming to minimize residents' inconvenience and collaboration with local National Assembly members,” adding, “We will continue to overcome difficult financial conditions through networking based on communication and cooperation.”
