Korean Air Selected for APEX '5-Star Rating' by US Airline Rating Agency

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korean Air announced on the 6th that it has received the highest rating of ‘5-star’ for five consecutive years in the Official Airline Rating evaluation by the U.S. airline rating organization 'APEX'.

APEX, located in New York, USA, is a non-profit organization established in 1979, with 482 members including airlines and aircraft manufacturers. Since 2018, it has been operating an airline rating program based on passenger feedback collected through the ‘TripIt’ application.

APEX’s airline rating evaluates over 1 million flights from more than 600 airlines worldwide, measuring final ratings through external professional audits based on customer feedback on ▲aircraft seats ▲in-flight service ▲in-flight meals ▲in-flight entertainment, among others.

Korean Air explained that the selection for the ‘5-star rating’ this time was due to “the first-class Kosmo Suite 2.0 seats, in-flight entertainment with abundant content, in-flight meals using seasonal ingredients, and high-quality wines, all of which are differentiated services unique to Korean Air that received favorable reviews from customers.”

Korean Air has received the ‘5-star rating’ in the APEX Official Airline Rating evaluation for five consecutive years since the evaluation began in 2018. Only 11 airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, and Delta Air Lines, have maintained the honor of being selected for the 5-star rating for five consecutive years.

Meanwhile, Korean Air was recognized for its efforts to improve customer service quality, such as being the first domestic airline to introduce a self-developed baggage matching system. Recently, it was selected as a ‘5-star airline’ in the COVID-19 safety rating by the UK-based Skytrax and as ‘Airline of the Year’ by the U.S.-based Air Transport World.

Korean Air stated, “We plan to develop into a global airline leading the post-COVID-19 era through continuous service upgrades that impress our customers.”
