[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 6th that starting with the Incheon Ganseok branch opening next month, it will renovate 17 stores by the first half of next year and invest in offline business by newly opening Homeplus Express, a corporate supermarket (SSM).
The renovated stores will transform into food-centered stores by adjusting sales spaces in line with rapidly changing consumption patterns. They plan to secure a larger fresh food area, which is the most visited section by customers at large marts, to strengthen food offerings and enhance product assortment. Store exteriors, customer restrooms, lounges, and nursing rooms will also be newly updated.
Additionally, Homeplus Express has made a new store opening for the first time in six years. On the 18th of last month, Homeplus opened Homeplus Express Siheung Baegot branch in Baegot New Town, Siheung City, Gyeonggi Province. This store focuses on competitively priced fresh foods such as small-pack items, salads, and livestock products, as well as home meal replacements (HMR). It has received a good response, recording double the sales target from the first day of opening. On the 1st, Homeplus renamed the existing Express Asset Management Team to Express New Store Development Team and added new store development tasks to strengthen offline business.
