[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The SBS labor union will begin a strike in the news division starting from the 6th.
According to SBS on the 5th, the final negotiations between the management and the SBS branch of the National Union of Mediaworkers broke down that afternoon. As a result, the main TV news will be broadcast in a shortened format, and other news programs will be replaced with dramas and entertainment shows.
In the new schedule, 'SBS 8 News' has been reduced from 70 minutes to 40 minutes, and news programs such as 'Morning Wide' Part 1, '10 News', '12 News', 'News Briefing', 'O News', and 'Nightline' have all been replaced with reruns of dramas and entertainment programs.
Earlier, the SBS labor union held a strike resolution rally on the 2nd after conflicts intensified due to management's declaration to abolish the executive appointment consent system earlier this year and the notification of termination of the collective agreement. They decided to enter the first phase of the strike in the news division from the 6th to the 12th.
