Hwasun-gun Opens '1.2 Trillion Won National Budget Era'... Secures Record-Breaking National Funding

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun County (Governor Gu Chung-gon) has opened the era of '120 billion KRW national budget' by securing the largest-ever national funds.

Hwasun County announced on the 5th that 126 billion KRW of national treasury budget, including local pending projects, was reflected in the 2022 government budget passed by the National Assembly plenary session on the 3rd.

Next year's national budget increased by a whopping 40.6% (36.4 billion KRW) compared to 89.6 billion KRW in 2021, marking the first time the '120 billion KRW national budget era' has opened.

The next year's budget includes a large number of newly discovered projects linked to the government's K-Global Hub strategy plan and local pending project funds, accelerating the promotion of vaccine and bio projects.

In the vaccine and bio sectors, which are future growth engine industries, 51.9 billion KRW was secured for 13 projects including ▲Establishment of the National Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center (total project cost 26.3 billion KRW, reflected amount 9.6 billion KRW) ▲Establishment of m-RNA vaccine demonstration support infrastructure (43 billion KRW, 1.4 billion KRW) ▲Vaccine technology commercialization open innovation lab construction project (4 billion KRW, 2.8 billion KRW), ▲Expansion of functions of the National Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center (44.1 billion KRW, 13.1 billion KRW), etc.

In the cultural tourism sector, 3.2 billion KRW was reflected for 6 projects including ▲Creation of Hwasun Tree Village (total project cost 2 billion KRW, reflected amount 1 billion KRW) ▲Hancheon Natural Recreation Forest Eco Healing Resort Town Construction Project (5 billion KRW, 1 billion KRW) for developing new future tourism resources.

Disaster and disaster maintenance projects and rural living infrastructure improvement projects were also included. National funds were secured for 34 projects including Yuma disaster risk area maintenance project, disaster risk district steep slope and reservoir maintenance project, rural agreement projects selected through public contests for rural living area restoration and revitalization, and 13 public sewage projects.

This is the result of analyzing government policy trends and budget formulation directions from the beginning of the year, discovering new projects, establishing budget securing strategies, and conducting budget securing activities targeting central government departments and the National Assembly.

It is an achievement obtained by actively utilizing Governor Gu Chung-gon's personal network with central government departments such as the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and central political figures, his strong will for securing national funds, and public officials uniting their efforts to visit central government departments and the National Assembly to persistently propose the promotion of pending projects and the necessity of national fund support.

Gu Chung-gon, Governor of Hwasun County, said, "We achieved the result of increasing 15.1 billion KRW during the National Assembly review process for projects not reflected in the government budget, such as the expansion of functions of the National Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center," and added, "We will discover and select new projects early to secure national funds for the 2023 government budget."
