[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG, whose future core business is the AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology dedicated organization LG AI Research Institute, will celebrate its first anniversary by holding a talk concert on the 14th to reveal its achievements including the super-large AI.

According to LG on the 5th, LG AI Research Institute will hold an online event called 'LG AI Talk Concert - The Best of 2021' on the morning of the 14th of this month. An official from LG AI Research Institute explained, "All projects apply the latest AI algorithms to industrial sites, significantly surpassing the performance of existing methods, and it would be good for related academia and industry conducting AIX applied tasks to refer to these as best practices."

LG AI Research Institute stated that the core of the event is the last session on super-large AI chaired by Lee Hong-rak, CSAI. The session, whose title is kept confidential, is expected to show LG's philosophy toward super-large AI beyond the level of disclosing research achievements.

LG AI Research Institute was established in December last year by Chairman Koo, consolidating AI development capabilities scattered across each affiliate into one integrated AI research center. Active research is underway by actively recruiting talents centered on young leaders in their early to mid-40s. At the time of establishment, LG Group set a goal to invest 200 billion KRW over three years, expand core research personnel to around 100 by this year, and increase AI experts within the group to about 1,000 by 2023.

Earlier in May, through an AI talk concert, LG announced that it would develop a super-large AI with learning, thinking, and judgment abilities at the level of the 'top 1% human experts.' To this end, it decided to invest more than 100 billion KRW in securing and developing large-scale computing infrastructure. At that time, Director Bae said, "The goal is to create a super-large AI that provides answers in all business areas LG is involved in, such as life sciences, chemistry, batteries, and IT."
