7 Confirmed Cases Clustered at a Nursing Hospital in Gwangju... 29 Confirmed Cases on the 4th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] COVID-19 infections continue unabated in Gwangju, including a cluster of 7 infections at a nursing hospital.


According to Gwangju Metropolitan City as of 2 PM on the 4th, 29 people tested positive for COVID-19 and were classified as cases 6438 through 6466.


There are 2 cases related to manufacturing in Gwangsan-gu, 3 cases related to a kindergarten in Seo-gu, 1 case related to a daycare center in Gwangsan-gu, 7 cases related to a nursing hospital in Buk-gu, 2 cases related to confirmed patients from other cities/provinces, 3 cases related to previously confirmed patients, and 11 cases under investigation with symptoms.


The 2 manufacturing-related cases in Gwangsan-gu tested positive during quarantine; their nationality is Vietnamese.


The 3 cases related to the kindergarten in Seo-gu all tested positive in tests conducted before release from quarantine due to family transmission.


The daycare center case in Gwangsan-gu was confirmed infected during quarantine testing; the nationality is Cambodian.


At the nursing hospital in Buk-gu, 7 people were infected in a cluster. They underwent proactive testing at a high-risk facility on the 23rd and 26th, and on the 26th, 6 patients and 1 hospital staff member tested positive.


The 2 cases related to other cities/provinces were found to have been infected through contact with confirmed patients in Seongnam.


Three people who had contact with previously confirmed patients with unknown infection routes developed symptoms during self-quarantine and tested positive.


Additionally, confirmed cases occurred among elementary school students, daycare centers, academies, and welfare centers, but all were confirmed infected during tests conducted while in self-quarantine or before release from quarantine, so no contacts were identified.
