North Korea Calls for Unity Emphasizing 'Baekdu Mountain Spirit' Ahead of Kim Jong Un's 10-Year Rule Milestone

North Korea called for unity by promoting the 'Baekdu Mountain Spirit' ahead of the 10th anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Un's rule.

The Workers' Party's official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published an editorial on the 4th titled "Overcome Difficulties with the Baekdu Mountain Spirit and Achieve New Development of Our Style Socialism." The editorial stated, "The challenges and difficulties we have faced over the past two years were the worst ever in history," and explained, "The driving force that enabled us to overcome the severe crisis that would have shattered others and to advance with heightened confidence in certain victory was precisely the Baekdu Mountain Spirit."

It emphasized that the so-called 'military horse march' in December of the same year, when Chairman Kim Jong Un rode a horse around the Baekdu Mountain area following the collapse of the Hanoi North Korea-US summit in February 2019, became an opportunity to solidify the Baekdu Mountain Spirit. The editorial stated, "The Baekdu military horse march undertaken by Comrade General Secretary (Kim Jong Un) two years ago was a historic feat that demonstrated an unwavering will to uphold and preserve the revolutionary traditions of Baekdu and to complete the Juche revolutionary cause to the end with an indomitable offensive spirit based on those great traditions."

It continued, "The Baekdu Mountain Spirit is the eternal spirit of Korea," adding, "The harsher the difficulties and the more piled the trials, the more firmly we must grasp the revolutionary spirit of Korea, the Baekdu Mountain Spirit, as a weapon for certain victory and achieve comprehensive development of our style socialism."

To the cadres, it urged, "You must take the lead in embodying the Baekdu Mountain Spirit," and ordered, "Cherish loyalty to the General Secretary as your utmost life principle, and become true loyalists and genuine revolutionaries who advance straight along the path pointed by the Party Central Committee even if lightning strikes from the sky and bombs explode beneath your feet."

It also stressed, "Efforts must be made to nurture the rising new generation as ideologically and faithfully resolute soldiers," and emphasized, "The new generation must be prepared as successors of the revolution who inherit the Baekdu bloodline and the tradition of loyalty."
