[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 3rd, Gyeongsangbuk-do presented the creative musical "The Gift of Rangrangbyeol," which compiles the works of children's author Kwon Jeong-saeng, to the residents.
Author Kwon Jeong-saeng is a representative children's writer from the Gyeongbuk region, known for popular works such as "Doggy Poop," "Mongsil Sister," and "Mommy Katuri."
Gyeongbuk Province created the musical "The Gift of Rangrangbyeol" by compiling Kwon's final fairy tale works, including "Rangrangbyeol Ddaettaegong," "Uncle Gil, Uncle Son," and "Flying Away."
The musical creation was planned to discover hidden artistic resources and provide opportunities for children in culturally marginalized areas to participate in and watch performances.
It was born as the first collaborative project among the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation, Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-koo Foundation, and Kwon Jeong-saeng Children's Cultural Foundation, and after more than a year of preparation, it has finally opened.
The musical featured a collaboration of over 100 cultural artists, including all 21 students of Parkgok Elementary School, about 60 local children, and 12 members of the local chamber orchestra, with actor Choi Bul-am making a special appearance.
"The Gift of Rangrangbyeol" tells the story of Saedal and Madal, who live on Earth, being invited to Rangrangbyeol and traveling back in time 500 years to Rangrangbyeol, experiencing various adventures.
Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, "This is a project that revitalizes the local cultural and artistic ecosystem, which has been weakened by COVID-19, and offers dreams and hope to local children."
Lee Hee-beom, CEO of Gyeongbuk Culture, said, "We will strive to ensure that local children, the cultural and artistic dream trees, can dream of a wider world and enjoy diverse cultural and artistic experiences and opportunities."
