Jeonju Yesu Hospital Selected as Disability-Friendly Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 3rd that Yesu Hospital was selected for the first disability-friendly obstetrics and gynecology public project.

Accordingly, Jeonbuk Province plans to invest a total budget of 375 million KRW, including 108.8 million KRW in national funds, for the disability-friendly obstetrics and gynecology designation project to carry out facility remodeling for project operation, procurement of essential medical equipment, and selection of disability-friendly coordinators.

The disability-friendly obstetrics and gynecology facility is designed to resolve difficulties faced by women with disabilities, such as high-risk childbirth and issues with medical accessibility.

It is equipped with necessary equipment and personnel to provide safe pregnancy and childbirth and women's disease management services for women with disabilities.

In particular, the main essential facilities required in a disability-friendly obstetrics and gynecology clinic include outpatient examination rooms, LDR rooms (Labor-delivery-recovery: a space where labor, delivery, and recovery are all possible in one room), and breastfeeding rooms accessible by wheelchair. Essential equipment includes electric beds (Striker LD304), wheelchair scales, portable vibration lifts, and special wheelchairs.

Additionally, three disability-friendly obstetrics and gynecology coordinators will be hired and designated as nurses (social workers) to ensure that pregnant women with disabilities can receive reliable 24-hour uninterrupted services.

Jeonbuk Province expects that by providing high-quality obstetrics and gynecology medical services to disabled pregnant women in the province, it will greatly contribute to guaranteeing the health rights and medical accessibility of women with disabilities in the region.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Welfare selected a total of eight locations, including Jeonbuk among 17 cities and provinces, for the first-ever 'First Disability-Friendly Obstetrics and Gynecology' project (Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, Ulsan, Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, Gyeongbuk).
