Okgye (Sokcho Direction) Rest Area "Introduction of Hazardous Food Material Blocking System"

On the 1st, the Gangneung Branch of the Korea Expressway Corporation Gangwon Headquarters announced that the Okgae (Sokcho-bound) Rest Area will introduce and operate a hazardous food blocking system.

The Okgae (Sokcho-bound) Rest Area utilizes the hazardous food blocking system for rest areas provided by the Food Safety Information Service to manage food ingredients delivered to the rest area in order to provide safe food.

Hazardous foods refer to those that violate the standards for bacterial count, coliform group, and pesticide residues announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, contain foreign substances (such as metal or insects), or include prohibited raw materials (such as cesium or benzene) that cannot be used or imported.

The hazardous food sales blocking system developed for rest areas automatically blocks hazardous foods at the receiving stage by using recall and sales suspension product information provided by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety when hazardous foods occur in food ingredients used at highway rest areas.

Director Kim Seong-hyun said, “Through the establishment of this system, it is expected that food ingredient safety can be secured even at rest areas, thereby eliminating blind spots in food safety.”
