Mujugun Residential Family Practice Farm, the 'Cradle' of Urban Settler Settlement

This Year, 10 Graduates of the 10th Generation Completed... 5th Generation Decides to Settle in Muju

[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 3rd that the residential-type family practice farm established for urban residents to settle in Muju is greatly helping to provide settlement conditions and environment for urban residents.

The Muju County residential-type family practice farm has been conducting various programs every year to improve settlement conditions and environment for urban residents, starting with the signing of a business agreement with Seoul City in 2017 to support the stable settlement of prospective farmers wishing to return to farming.

This year as well, 10 graduates from 10 households completed the residential-type family practice farm program on the 1st.

They completed a total of 58 sessions and 220 hours of education, including basic courses on returning to farming and rural life, theory and practice of farming cultivation, and village exploration, at one tomato cultivation facility (660㎡), one shiitake mushroom cultivation facility (170㎡), and one communal cultivation site (1235㎡) where sweet potatoes, cabbage, corn, potatoes, and other crops can be grown.

Among them, 5 households expressed their intention to settle in Muju County.

Muju County plans to recruit participants for the 2022 residential-type family practice farm starting January next year. The target applicants are urban residents wishing to return to farming or rural life, and they can apply by visiting Seoul City Hall or Muju County Office in person or by mail.

Meanwhile, since the residential-type family practice farm opened in 2017, it has produced 31 graduate households and 52 people, among whom 12 households and 24 people have settled in Muju County so far.
