[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao announced on the 3rd that the cumulative donations on its donation platform 'Kakao Together Value' have surpassed 46 billion KRW.
'Kakao Together Value' is an open platform where anyone can propose fundraising and create donation projects on public interest topics that help solve social issues, even if they are not professional organizations or groups.
Since its launch in December 2007, the cumulative donation amount reached 46 billion KRW as of last month, and the total number of participations exceeded 41 million. This year, about 6 billion KRW in donations were raised by last month, with more than 5.9 million participations recorded.
On the same day, Kakao also revealed the '2021 Kakao Together Value Best Awards,' introducing 10 outstanding public interest projects conducted on Kakao Together Value over the past year and 5 excellent donors of the year.
After reviewing completed fundraising public interest projects, 10 projects were selected as this year’s fundraising boxes, including ▲ Korea Habitat for Humanity's 'We will not forget the sacrifice and dedication of independence activists' ▲ UNICEF Korea Committee's 'Let's create a world safe from violence together' ▲ Social Cooperative Hangang's 'For the return of otters to the Hangang River,' among others.
Kang Seungwon, head of Kakao Together Value, said, "We thank many users who participated in various themed fundraising projects through Kakao Together Value this year as well," adding, "We will continue to strive so that many people can experience the joy of donating and warm hearts can be delivered to places where they are truly needed."
