[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Jo Young-shin] The Korean Embassy in China announced on the 3rd that during the high-level meeting held in Tianjin the previous day between Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office of the Blue House, and Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, they discussed mutual interests including the advancement of the Korean Peninsula peace process.

Both sides confirmed their consensus on promoting President Xi Jinping's visit to Korea as soon as the COVID-19 situation stabilizes and all conditions are met, and agreed to pursue necessary communication between the leaders even before that. Furthermore, both parties agreed to work together to deepen and advance the Korea-China strategic cooperative partnership in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations next year.

The embassy stated that both countries agreed on the importance of stable management of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and explained Korea's efforts to advance the peace process on the Korean Peninsula, including the declaration of the end of the war.

Regarding this, the Chinese side reportedly responded that they support Korea's push for the declaration of the end of the war. Director Suh conveyed to the Chinese side that "the stable development of U.S.-China relations is important not only for Northeast Asia but also for world peace and prosperity," and then listened to the Chinese side's situation regarding communication between the U.S. and China.
