Democratic Party Approval Rating Surpasses People Power Party

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A poll has shown that Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, recorded the same approval ratings.
According to a Gallup poll conducted on the 3rd, both Lee and Yoon received 36% support each, while Sim Sang-jung, the presidential candidate of the Justice Party, and Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, each recorded 5%. Compared to the poll conducted two weeks ago (from the 16th to the 18th of last month), Lee's approval rating rose by 5 percentage points, while Yoon's dropped by 6 percentage points. The 11 percentage point gap narrowed to 0 percentage points in just two weeks.
In the survey on party support, the Democratic Party received 35%, the People Power Party 34%, and the non-affiliated group 21%. In the previous survey, the People Power Party (34%) led the Democratic Party (32%) by 2 percentage points, but this time the Democratic Party took the lead. In a poll asking the public's opinion on maintaining or changing the government, 36% favored maintaining the current administration, while 53% supported a change.
This poll was conducted nationwide from the 30th of last month to the 2nd of this month, targeting 1,000 people aged 18 and over via telephone interviews.
