Nationwide Daiso Stores to Implement 'Safe Call' Service... Provided by Korea Cable Telecom

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Korea Cable Telecom (kct), a media (telecommunications) affiliate of Taekwang Group, announced on the 3rd that starting in December, it will provide the Safe Call service to 629 Daiso stores nationwide, a lifestyle goods specialty store.

Safe Call is highly satisfactory for the digitally vulnerable groups who have difficulty entering QR codes due to the diverse age range of customers at Daiso stores. It also reduces concerns about personal information exposure during the manual logbook writing process.

The Safe Call service automatically stores customers' entry times and phone numbers for one month with just one phone call, after which the data is deleted. This system enables rapid epidemiological investigations and helps prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is already used by 212 local governments and over 48,000 private companies and is one of the standards for visitor management methods under the government's basic quarantine rules. Since July this year, operating Safe Call in large-scale stores such as department stores and large marts has been mandatory.

Meanwhile, kct and Asung Daiso plan to conduct mobile product partnership marketing in the future, including the eSIM service of kct's budget phone brand 'T Plus.' The mobile phone eSIM is a service provided only by T Plus in Korea, allowing the use of two phone numbers on one mobile phone.
