Millie's Library Selected as Google Play's 'Best App of 2021'

The reading platform Millie’s Library was selected as Google Play’s ‘Best App of 2021.’ Additionally, it won the Excellence Award for ‘Foldable App of the Year,’ achieving a double crown at the Google Play 2021 Best of Awards. Every year, Google Play selects and announces the ‘Best Apps’ and category winners among Android platform-based apps that have been most loved throughout the year. Considering the COVID-19 situation this year, an ‘on-site award ceremony’ was held on the 2nd at Millie’s Library headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Millie’s Library, which introduced the subscription economy model to the domestic e-book market for the first time in 2017, is the largest reading platform in Korea with 100,000 reading contents and 4 million cumulative subscribers. It offers a variety of reading content including e-books, audiobooks, audio dramas, and chatbooks, and creates a digital reading culture by proposing new indicators such as the completion index to enable reading tailored to individual lifestyles. While providing books from over 1,300 publishers, it also breathes new life into the publishing industry by adding new attempts to expand reading content with original content and secondary reading content in collaboration with these publishers.

Do Young-min, team leader of the Reading Life Team at Millie’s Library, said, “Following our selection as Google Play’s ‘Best App in the Self-Development Category’ in 2019, it is very meaningful to win two awards including ‘Best App of 2021’ after two years.” He added, “In 2022, we will do our best to become a more comfortable reading platform so that more people can become unlimitedly familiar with reading at Millie’s Library.”
