[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] COVID-19 cluster infections continue mainly among choir groups and visitors to recreational facilities in other regions.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 3rd, 45 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Gwangju in one day, classified as cases 6354 to 6398.
These include 12 people from a leisure gathering in Dong-gu, 9 related to recreational facilities in other regions, 1 from a religious facility in Gwangsan-gu, 1 from manufacturing in Gwangsan-gu, 1 from a middle school in Seo-gu, 1 from a kindergarten in Seo-gu, 5 related to other cities and provinces, 10 related to previously confirmed cases, and 5 under investigation.
Among the 45 confirmed cases in Gwangju, 12 are related to a choir gathering in Dong-gu, where one choir member operates a music academy and one additional person was confirmed positive there.
Previously, 7 additional infections occurred at the music academy operated by the confirmed choir member, including 5 students and 2 elementary school students. The quarantine authorities have set up temporary screening clinics at two elementary schools and are conducting comprehensive testing of students and teachers.
Also, it was confirmed that one choir member was active in another choir, and 3 others including choir members, acquaintances, and family members were also confirmed positive.
Thus, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the Dong-gu choir gathering has increased to 31.
Nine people, including a family who visited a camping site in Jeonnam, were also confirmed positive. So far, a total of 11 confirmed cases have been identified related to the camping site.
Among them is an elementary school student in Gwangsan-gu, and quarantine authorities are conducting comprehensive testing.
In addition, after a high school girl tested positive with symptoms, 4 more people including family members and students from the same school were infected. Among the family infections, 2 were elementary school students, and quarantine authorities are conducting epidemiological investigations.
Also, acquaintances who tested positive through symptomatic testing, 2 high school teachers, and 1 university staff member were confirmed positive.
Furthermore, confirmed cases have emerged in various places including a family infection related to an administrative welfare center in Gwangsan-gu, contacts from other regions, a religious facility in Gwangsan-gu, a manufacturing company, and a middle school.
