KoAsia, Foundry Job Creation... "Establishing Organizational System for Large-Scale Projects"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] CoAsia announced on the 3rd that CoAsia Semi, the system semiconductor division, has been selected as an ‘Excellent Company in the 2021 Work Innovation Incentive Program’ organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Labor Foundation.

This selection was conducted through expert on-site evaluations and employee satisfaction surveys targeting small and medium-sized enterprises that voluntarily and continuously practice work innovation. It is part of the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘Work Innovation Incentive Program’ aimed at creating a balanced employment environment between work and life.

CoAsia Semi has introduced various welfare benefits such as ▲flexible and elastic working hours ▲self-approved annual leave ▲psychological counseling program HUG YOU ▲on-time leaving campaign ▲child education support, and was evaluated for its efforts to guarantee employees’ ‘Work-Life Balance.’ Among a total of 65 companies participating in the ‘Work Innovation Incentive Program,’ it received an ‘S grade,’ recognizing its improvement in labor conditions.

A company official stated, "We believe that improving employees’ quality of life leads directly to enhanced work efficiency and company development, and thus we are introducing various welfare benefits." He added, "We will continue to strive to implement diverse welfare systems that allow CoAsia Group employees to balance work and life."

In addition, CoAsia’s system semiconductor division signed an agreement with the Human Resources Development Service of Korea to establish a ‘Work-Learning Dual Training Center.’ ‘Work-Learning Dual’ is a workplace-based learning system, globally spreading in countries such as Germany and Switzerland, adapted to Korea’s reality as ‘field-based training.’ After hiring young workers, companies provide systematically designed theoretical (Off-JT) and practical (OJT) training based on the National Competency Standards (NCS). This system enables companies to cultivate customized talent while allowing workers to combine work and learning.

The Work-Learning Dual Training Center education will be professionally conducted at CoAsia’s GDEC (Global Design Education Centre). The curriculum includes basic system semiconductor education as well as ▲SoC Design Solution, ▲ASIC Flow, and ▲Samsung Electronics Foundry DM (Design Methodology).

A company official said, “To carry out large-scale projects for global clients, we operate CoAsia Group’s unique ‘Hwasubun’ organizational system,” adding, "We will faithfully fulfill our role as a top-tier partner of Samsung Electronics Foundry by nurturing specialized personnel through high-quality education."

Meanwhile, CoAsia’s system semiconductor division has continued large-scale recruitment, hiring about 70 new employees in November alone. At SEDEX 2021, the semiconductor exhibition held at COEX, Seoul, in October, the company announced plans to expand its in-house Genie workforce to 600 by 2023. To respond to the rapidly increasing demand for customized core chips (Custom SoC) from global clients such as those in the automotive semiconductor sector, the group is focusing its capabilities on strengthening the system semiconductor division.
