[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The 'East-West Harmony Angel Project,' which recruits 1,004 sponsors in Jeonnam and Gyeongbuk to support children from low-income families, has also borne fruit in Gangjin County.

According to Gangjin County on the 2nd, on the 30th of last month, the 'Angel Home No. 6' completion ceremony was held in Jakcheon-myeon, Gangjin County, with about 80 attendees including the East-West Harmony Angel Project Promotion Committee, officials from Jeonnam Province and Gangjin County, and the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation.

The 'Yeong-Honam East-West Harmony Angel Project' is a program that, since 2015, has discovered more than 1,004 sponsors in Jeonnam and Gyeongbuk to promote harmony across regions, classes, and generations through sharing, and supports children from low-income families with the funds raised.

The sixth Angel Home beneficiary family in Gangjin County consists of a father and two siblings, a multicultural single-parent household living in poor conditions.

Seeing the children entering adolescence and their father living in a worn and cramped room under harsh conditions, Gangjin County consulted and applied to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation for the Angel Home residential reconstruction project, initiating the project.

The Home project requires raising part of the costs needed for residential reconstruction through sponsorships upon project selection.

In Gangjin County, with active participation from related local institutions, hospitals, social organizations, Honor Society members, expatriates, and neighbors, sponsorship funds (including in-kind donations) amounting to 51.75 million won were raised, and with an additional 50 million won sponsorship from the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, a warm and loving home was completed.

County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "I hope the beneficiary family can freely pursue their dreams in a comfortable environment," and added, "We will continue to provide various supports so that children can fully realize their value and potential."
