[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LX Semicon announced on the 2nd that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), becoming the first domestic fabless (semiconductor design) company to do so. Taking this opportunity, the company presented plans to accelerate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.

The UNGC is the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative. It contributes to raising awareness of sustainability by internalizing the ten principles in the core areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption?key values for corporate social responsibility?into corporate management strategies, and provides practical measures. More than 18,000 companies and institutions from 162 countries worldwide participate.

On the 1st, LX Semicon held a certificate presentation ceremony at the UNGC Korea Association Secretariat in Jung-gu, Seoul, attended by Hong Min-seok, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) Executive Director, and Kwon Chun-taek, Secretary-General of the UNGC Korea Association.

Until now, LX Semicon has practiced eco-friendly management, including obtaining the International Environmental Management System (ISO14001) certification. ISO14001 is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that comprehensively evaluates whether a company has a system in place to systematically manage 'environmental management' as an important criterion.

Through joining the UNGC, LX Semicon stated that it will comply with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UNGC's ten principles, and plans to disclose major achievements of ESG management promoted throughout its future business activities.

Son Bo-ik, President of LX Semicon, emphasized, "We will integrate the UNGC's ten principles into all management activities to fulfill corporate social responsibility and create a fair and transparent corporate environment."

Meanwhile, LX Semicon is developing not only system semiconductor technologies applied to displays but also system semiconductors for home appliances and automobiles.
