President Moon: "Omicron Risk High... Final Hurdle for Returning to Normal Life"

Attended National Breakfast Prayer Meeting, Delivered Quarantine Message... Meeting with Ruling and Opposition Presidential Candidates Failed

[Asia Economy Reporters Jungmin Ryu, Jieun Lee, Juni Park] President Moon Jae-in stated on the 2nd, "The path toward phased daily recovery (With Corona) is not smooth, and the risk of Omicron is increasing."

President Moon made these remarks while attending the 53rd National Breakfast Prayer Meeting held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Seoul, urging, "I hope you will pray for South Korea to overcome the final hurdle of daily recovery."

Earlier, President Moon had ordered the implementation of 'strengthened quarantine measures for incoming travelers' to block the COVID-19 variant Omicron. However, with five confirmed infections, including a couple in their 40s who visited Nigeria and their acquaintances, the quarantine system is now on high alert.

Meanwhile, both Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, and Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party presidential candidate, attended the prayer meeting that day, but no meeting with President Moon took place.

Candidate Lee and Candidate Yoon attended the first part of the event around 6:20 a.m. and left around 6:50 a.m., before President Moon arrived at the venue.

In his greeting, Candidate Lee said, "I want to create a fair country where justice flows like a river, as taught in the Bible."

Candidate Yoon also said in his greeting, "In all areas of the economy and society, comfort and recovery are urgently needed. I will work to set the country right with fairness and common sense and strive for the nation's prosperity."
