The National Human Rights Commission and the Schizophrenia Recovery Association Hold a Media Monitoring Forum from the Perspective of People with Mental Disabilities and Their Families

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The National Human Rights Commission of Korea announced that, together with the Korea Schizophrenia Recovery Association, it will hold a "Press Monitoring Results Presentation and Discussion from the Perspective of Persons with Mental Disabilities and Their Families" on the afternoon of the 2nd at the Irum Center in Yeouido, Seoul.

As part of the project to eliminate prejudice against persons with mental disabilities, the Human Rights Commission, along with the Korea Schizophrenia Recovery Association, formed a monitoring group mainly composed of persons with mental disabilities and their families from June to November this year. The group monitored articles and content that could cause discrimination, prejudice, or promote hatred against persons with mental disabilities.

At the discussion, the monitoring group's press monitoring cases will be presented, along with the opinions of persons with mental disabilities regarding the controversial film "F20." In addition, experts from related organizations will attend to discuss the problems and alternatives concerning press coverage of persons with mental disabilities.

The Human Rights Commission stated, "We hope this discussion will contribute to improving society's perception of persons with mental disabilities."
