[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] The Community Chest of Korea will carry out the year-end and New Year neighbor-helping campaign, "Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign," for 62 days from the 1st of this month until the 31st of next month.
On this day, at Seoul City Hall Plaza, the Community Chest of Korea, with Honorary Chairwoman Kim Jung-sook in attendance, launched the campaign and began operating the campaign’s symbol, the “Love Thermometer.” The campaign will be simultaneously conducted at 17 branches nationwide. The sharing goal (fundraising target) for this campaign is 370 billion won. The funds will be used to achieve four major sharing goals: supporting COVID-19 daily recovery, emergency support for families in crisis, care for socially vulnerable groups, and support for education and self-reliance.
At the launch ceremony, along with Kim Jung-sook, Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, and Community Chest Chairman Cho Heung-sik attended. Also present were members of the high-donor group "Honor Society," including Wendy of the girl group Red Velvet and broadcaster Hyun Young, who wished for the successful achievement of the goals. Min Kang (18), the first donor from the MZ generation for this campaign, also attended and made his first donation on site.
Kim Jung-sook said, “I am truly pleased to join the launch of the ‘Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign.’ Even during the difficult times of COVID-19, I deeply respect and thank all citizens who live a ‘life that becomes a gift to others,’ like the miracle of last year’s Love Thermometer surpassing 100 degrees.” Community Chest Chairman Cho Heung-sik also said, “I hope the warm participation of all citizens becomes a ‘social vaccine’ that helps the daily recovery of everyone, including neighbors in need.”
In particular, this campaign introduces fundraising methods using metaverse and blockchain platforms for the first time, expanding non-face-to-face fundraising through VR fundraising and QR code donations. A Community Chest promotional hall has been installed on the metaverse platform “Zepeto” to actively promote the campaign to the MZ generation, and fundraising activities are underway with the blockchain-based donation platform “Cherry” and virtual reality (VR) fundraising, aiming to support 100 vulnerable families struggling due to COVID-19.
During the campaign period, participation is possible through account transfers using the donation consultation representative number and lifetime account number, and donations can be easily made via ARS phone donations, text donations, and the Community Chest website.
