[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Major facilities such as fire stations and police stations in Seoul have experienced consecutive COVID-19 cluster infections.
According to fire authorities on the 1st, 14 firefighters at the Dongdaemun Fire Station in Seoul tested positive for COVID-19 from the 29th of last month until 9 a.m. on this day.
After one employee tested positive on the 29th of last month, the Dongdaemun Fire Station conducted a full inspection, resulting in 13 additional confirmed cases.
A fire official stated, "No confirmed cases have emerged from field departments such as the ambulance and rescue teams," and added, "Currently, the fire station is operating without bringing in employees except for essential personnel."
COVID-19 infections are also occurring consecutively at frontline police stations. At the Suseo Police Station in Seoul, following two confirmed cases the previous day, eight more employees were reported to have tested positive on this day.
On the 29th of last month, 19 police officers at the Seocho Police Station tested positive, and approximately 100 personnel were placed under self-quarantine.
