Last Christmas Season 3-Day Sales Increased by 280% Compared to 2019
'Wishing Wreath' Shaped Like a Christmas Wreath and Tree-Shaped 'White Holiday' Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The Shilla Seoul Hotel announced on the 1st that Christmas cakes are gaining popularity riding the wave of 'home parties' and 'small luxury.'
The Shilla Seoul Hotel stated, "Sales of two types of Christmas cakes from December 23 to 25 last year surged by 280% compared to the same period in 2019," adding, "It is practically a complete sell-out of the maximum production capacity."
The hotel analyzed that the spread of the 'small luxury' culture, which pursues happiness through 'home parties' and small indulgences due to COVID-19, influenced this trend. The hotel expects, "Demand for home parties will remain strong at the end of this year, and sales will be as good as last year."
Every year, the Shilla Seoul Hotel bakery 'Pastry Boutique' unveils special Christmas cakes, and this year it introduced two new types: 'Wishing Wreath' and 'White Holiday.' Both cakes are limited edition products sold only during December.
The 'Wishing Wreath' cake is made with an almond chocolate sheet topped with French Valrhona chocolate ganache and fresh chocolate. Rosemary is placed on the chocolate cake to shape a wreath, and deep red macarons, chocolate balls, and candles create a warm and luxurious Christmas atmosphere.
The famous Christmas signature cake 'White Holiday,' known as the 'Shilla Seoul Hotel Tree Cake,' has been reborn with a new look. While the previous cake depicted white snow on green trees, this year's 'White Holiday' cake represents trees covered in pure white snow.
The Shilla Seoul Hotel's Christmas limited cake 'Wishing Wreath' is available for purchase until the 31st, and 'White Holiday' until the 25th. Due to limited production, reservations must be made one week in advance.
