[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] Kim Won-i, Member of the National Assembly (Mokpo City, Health and Welfare Committee), received the Democratic Party of Korea’s ‘Outstanding Member of the National Assembly Award’ for the National Assembly Inspection.
Kim Won-i’s office announced on the 1st through a press release that “Kim was selected as an outstanding member for two consecutive years as a member of the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee.”
The Democratic Party of Korea selected Kim Won-i on the 30th of last month in recognition of his excellent performance as a member of the National Assembly by presenting policies and alternatives for the phased recovery from COVID-19, revitalization of the people’s economy, and future transformation.
During the Health and Welfare Committee’s National Assembly Inspection in October this year, Kim urged the establishment of a medical system prepared for the With-Corona era. In particular, he emphasized the establishment of a home treatment system including meticulous monitoring during home treatment, rapid linkage with medical staff, and the construction of a medical institution transfer system.
He was also highly praised for contributing to the improvement of public health by disclosing the status of COVID-19 vaccine misadministration incidents and questioning measures to prevent misadministration and strengthen management of vaccination institutions.
Moreover, he attracted attention by proposing various measures to overcome the severe medical gap between the metropolitan area and local regions. In the inspection, Kim strongly requested the establishment of medical schools in regions without medical schools, expansion of doctor helicopter landing pads in island areas of Jeollanam-do, and infrastructure expansion of regional emergency medical centers in local areas.
Kim Won-i said, “The key topics of this year’s Health and Welfare Committee inspection were With-Corona and expansion of public healthcare,” adding, “I will continue to lead efforts to overcome COVID-19 by reviewing the home treatment system for phased daily recovery and promote multifaceted policies to expand local public healthcare, such as establishing a medical school in Mokpo and expanding doctor helicopter landing pads.”
