Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Selected as Recognized Institution for 'Community Contribution Recognition System'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 1st that it has been selected as a recognized institution for the "2021 Regional Community Contribution Recognition System."

The Regional Community Contribution Recognition System is a program jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. It identifies companies and institutions that form partnerships with local communities and non-profit organizations and continuously engage in social contribution activities, recognizing their contributions to the community.

The evaluation was conducted across 25 indicators in 7 areas: environmental management, social contribution promotion system, social contribution awareness, social contribution programs, social contribution networks, social contribution performance impact, and ethical management. The authority received particularly high evaluations in environmental management, social contribution awareness, and social contribution networks.

Under the goal of realizing YGPA-type shared value creation that grows together with the local community, the authority has set key initiatives such as Sharing Companionship, National Companionship, and Hope Companionship to carry out community coexistence activities. It is also actively conducting ESG-related activities through various projects in five sustainable core areas: safety, environment, education, medical care, and sports.

President Cha Min-sik stated, “We are striving to create diverse social values as a public enterprise that provides trust and hope through win-win cooperation with the local community,” and added, “We will continue various activities with the community, local governments, non-profit organizations, and social enterprises, including eco-friendly campaigns and support for marginalized groups.”
