[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] When a mural presumed to depict actress Kim Bu-seon appeared on the outer wall of a used bookstore in Jongno-gu, Seoul, which had been troubled by the so-called 'Julie mural,' Kim announced that she would take legal action.
On the afternoon of the 1st, Kim posted on her Facebook, saying, "The vulgar political artist's corrupt, violence disguised as art has caused irreversible wounds and serious insults to my dignity and that of my family."
Previously, on the 30th of last month, a new mural appeared on the outer wall of a used bookstore in Gwancheol-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, reminiscent of criticism against Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate. The mural depicts figures presumed to be Kim and Eun Su-mi, mayor of Seongnam. This seems to point to the scandal between candidate Lee and Kim Bu-seon, and to Mayor Eun, Lee's successor, who is currently on trial for bribery and other charges.
Regarding this, Kim appealed, "I will file civil and criminal complaints for portrait rights infringement, insult, and defamation. I clearly state that I am neither Lee Jae-myung's wife nor Yoon Seok-youl's wife," adding, "I am also not a public official, have not committed corruption, nor am I running for public office; I am just a powerless and innocent citizen."
Meanwhile, in July, a mural on the outer wall of this building caused controversy by depicting a woman's face presumed to be Kim Geon-hee, wife of Yoon Seok-youl, the People Power Party presidential candidate, along with the phrase "Julie's Men" and the words "Julie's Dream! The First Lady's Dream!"
At that time, the bookstore covered the mural with white paint as the controversy spread, but afterward, images of a middle-aged woman presumed to be Yoon's mother-in-law, a palm with the character '王 (Wang)' which sparked shamanism controversy, a caricature of an apple that caused a 'dog apple' controversy, and a man believed to be former President Jeon Du-hwan were drawn.
