[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) received the highest score among local governments nationwide in the '2020 Children's Dietary Safety Index' evaluation.
The county announced on the 1st that it scored 79.15 points in the 2020 Children's Dietary Safety Index survey conducted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, ranking first among 228 local governments nationwide and being selected as the best institution in the rural and fishing village sector.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety conducts surveys and analyses every three years on local governments nationwide in three areas: ▲Safety ▲Nutrition ▲Awareness and Practice, with 29 detailed indicators, selecting nine excellent local governments.
Despite the COVID-19 situation, the county received favorable evaluations for having no food poisoning incidents over three years due to thorough inspections of children's meal facilities and hygiene education for business operators around schools.
Additionally, various promotional activities using CCTV electronic billboards, Instagram, QR codes, etc., were carried out, and the project linking the Children's Meal Management Support Center with 'Center, Children's Meal Sites, and Homes' received high praise.
There were 22 excellent local governments nationwide that scored over 75 points, including Hwasun-gun, Yeosu-si, Gwangyang-si, Haenam-gun, and Muan-gun in Jeollanam-do.
A county official said, "Based on the Children's Dietary Safety Index survey and evaluation, we will provide more focused support and management for vulnerable indicators," adding, "We will develop and support customized education and various programs for children, cooks, and parents to ensure all children grow up healthily."
