Gwangju TP, Nationwide First Senior Researcher Oh Ah-Young Receives Presidential Citation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Technopark (Director Kim Sun-min) announced on the 1st that Senior Officer Oh Ah-young, an affiliated employee, received the Presidential Citation for the first time as an individual among 19 Technoparks nationwide, recognizing her contribution to national balanced development in the 'Regional Innovation Growth Category' of the 2021 Regional Industry Promotion Merit Awards.

Senior Officer Oh Ah-young contributed to establishing the investment attraction foundation and industrial development in the Gwangju region by attracting large-scale national projects through planning the designation of the Gwangju Free Economic Zone, planning the creation of the Industry-Academia Convergence District within the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, and planning the Green Energy ESS Power Regulatory Free Zone, among others.

She also laid the foundation for systematic regional industry promotion led by local governments through the establishment of the Gwangju Regional Innovation Growth Plan (hosted by the National Balanced Development Committee).

Since joining in 2006, based on field experience gained through various tasks such as establishing technology holding companies, supporting technology commercialization, and workforce training at the forefront of corporate support, she has promoted realistic planning reflecting regional issues and achieved results such as attracting major new projects, making her an exemplary case internally.

As a member of the Economic and Industrial Subcommittee of the 7th Gwangju Innovation Promotion Committee, she has also stood out in internal and external activities by actively proposing development plans for the region’s economy and industry.

Kim Sun-min, Director of Gwangju Technopark, said, “It is a great honor for the corporation that an individual employee receives the Presidential Citation,” and added, “We will do our best to create an environment where many employees can benchmark this and develop into experts in various fields.”

This Presidential Citation is the second for Gwangju Technopark, following the group award in the Regional Innovation Research Support Institution category in 2007.
